Specific Policy Recommendations to Reduce Administrative Burdens on European Businesses

Article

The Confederation of Danish Employers (DA) strongly supports the European Commission’s ambitions to reduce administrative burdens. The reduction of burdens is long overdue and essential in order to restore European competitiveness.

DA welcomes and supports the Danish EU Presidency’s prioritization of rebuilding European competitiveness through means of EU rule simplification and reduction of administrative burdens stemming from EU regulation. To facilitate progress on this very important policy agenda, DA has launched its "Policy Recommendations for Reduction of Administrative Burdens Stemming from the EU".

Our policy recommendations include:

  • A new overall approach to EU policy for the labour market which will reduce administrative burdens on businesses. In addition, it will increase flexibility for Members States’ national labour market systems, ensure compliance with the principle of subsidiarity and facilitate social partners’ dialogue at both EU and national level.
  • Concrete suggestions for enhancing better regulation practices in the preparations and negotiations on EU policies to prevent and reduce administrative burdens.
  • 16 very specific recommendations to alleviate burdens hampering business growth and employment. We target the most burdensome EU rules in the social and employment policy area and provide specific recommendations to rectify them.
